Sambite by Funk Elastic, this is a rock samba groove with added percussion on top of it. With piano and tenor saxophone solos it gets a nice contemporary jazz vibe. The theme is presented by three horns, flute (lead), flugelhorn and tenor saxophone and it has a simple flow without any major breaks. Agua de Beber (Water to Drink) by Funk Elastic, this is a famous bossa nova written by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Portuguese lyrics written by Vinícius de Moraes and English lyrics by Norman Gimbel. The first release was by Vinícius de Moraes in 1961, but the most widely known performance is by Astrud Gilberto, released in 1963, and it has been covered by many artists since. The song carries a sense of longing and nostalgia that represents a musical snapshot of the cultural movement and artistic vibe that emerged in Brazil in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Besame Mucho by Funk Elastic, (Kiss Me a Lot in English translation) is a famous bolero written in 1940 by Mexican songwriter Consuelo Velázquez. It is considered to be one of the most popular songs of the 20th century and one of the most important songs in the history of Latin music. This arrangement is based on Artie Shaw‘s version from 1953 and is more on the cha-cha groove side. The featuring solos are on tenor saxophone and piano. Continue reading
