Zdenko Ivanušić – Biografija

Zdenko Ivanušić, saksofonist i kompozitor, dinamičan je član hrvatske glazbene scene od 1990. Preko bogatog iskustva u klasičnoj glazbi, jazzu, fusionu i funku postiže jedinstven pristup u raznim izvođačkim situacijama, od simfonijskog orkestra, komornog ansambla do big banda, kvarteta saksofona ili malog sastava.

Kao voditelj Donna Lee Saxophone Quarteta, Funk Elastica, Zdenko Ivanušić Quarteta, uz jazz standarde, promovira vlastite kompozicije i originalne aranžmane. U kompozicijama koristi poliritmiju i politonalnost, kojima u izvedbama postiže emocionalni intenzitet i improvizacijsku jasnoću.

U Simfonijskom puhačkom orkestru Hrvatske vojske sedamnaest je godina bio vođa dionice saksofona (1992-2009). Surađuje sa Zagrebačkom filharmonijom, Simfonijskim orkestrom Hrvatske radiotelevizije, Jazz orkestrom Hrvatske radiotelevizije, Hrvatskim narodnim kazalištem u Zagrebu i gradskim kazalištem “Komedija”. Bio je solist je i lead altist u HGM Jazzorkestru Zagreb, pod umjetničkim vodstvom poznatog austrijskog band leadera Sigija Feigla od osnutka orkestra 2002. godine pa do 2006. godine. Surađuje s poznatim hrvatskim glazbenicima i popularnim sastavima kao što su Mr. Dynamite (također je glazbeni direktor/aranžer u tom ansamblu), General Woo – Tram 11, Brain Holidays, Soul Fingers, Songkillers, Soul Shadows, Freak Out Band, Neki Novi Klinci, Bučersi, Swing Again, Swingers Band, itd.. Nastupao je s brojnim svjetskim glazbenicima kao što su Randy Brecker, Bob Mintzer, Don Menza, Bobby Shew, John Riley, Earl Gardner, Peter Herbolzheimer, Kevin Mahogany, Charles Tolliver i drugi, te je imao priliku svirati i sa slavnim Duke Ellington Orchestrom prilikom gostovanja tog orkestra u Zagrebu 2012. godine.

Izdao je četiri albuma za Zivaldo Records: “Four Odd” i “Mellow(s Donna Lee Saxophone Quartetom) te solo albume “Lost in HTML” i “Free Fall“.

Donna Lee Saxophone Quartet

Donna Lee Saxophone Quartet osnovali su 1999. godine Zdenko Ivanušić i Andrej Henigman. Članovi kvarteta danas su Zdenko Ivanušić /sopran, alt/; Andrej Henigman /alt/; Vanja Ileković /tenor/; Aleš Suša /bariton/. Kvartet je od osnutka imao brojne koncertne nastupe, te nastupe na radiju i televiziji.

DLSQ izvodi obrade jazz standarda, mada se i originalne obrade i skladbe 29th Street Saxophone Quarteta i World Saxophone Quarteta mogu naći na repertoaru. Kvartet teži autorskom zvuku preko originalnih kompozicija i aranžmana Zdenka Ivanušića.

Uz to što su izvrsni instrumentalisti, članovi kvarteta su svestrani i fleksibilni glazbenici koji posjeduju improvizatorske vještine prijeko potrebne u jazzu ali i u suvremenoj tzv. klasičnoj glazbi. DLSQ je ansambl koji njeguje robustan zvuk s tipično saksofonističkim pristupom, ali može biti i lirski s eteričnim zvukom u baladama. Donna Lee Saxophone Quartet je izdao dva CD-a: “Four Odd” (2005.) i “Mellow” (2008.) za Zivaldo Records.

Zdenko Ivanušić (Press)Hrvatski saksofonist i skladatelj Zdenko Ivanušić dobio je radijsku nagradu Fame Games Effigy Awards 2009 u kategoriji najbolje instrumentalne izvedbe.

Uz odluku stručnog žirija u čijem su sastavu neka od značajnih imena svjetske glazbene scene (Lionel Richie…), u obzir se uzimaju i glasovi slušatelja.

Osim tog priznanja, Ivanušićeva skladba “Four Odd” sa “Lost in HTML” albuma uvrštena je među najboljim jazz snimkama u 2008. godini po izboru američkog jazz kritičara Scotta Albina. The above tracks came from a number of highly recommended CDs. Of the lesser-known artists, Rachael Price and April Hall are singers well worth hearing, Salles a fine saxophonist / composer / arranger, Antonio Ciacca an engaging pianist, Tom Beckham an excellent vibist / composer, Jack Broad a versatile, polished guitarist and skilled programmer, Zdenko Ivanušić a significant saxophonist/composer based in Croatia, and Jamie Baum a wonderful flutist and orchestrator. The Astor Piazzolla track is from the first-time-ever release of his quintet’s celebrated 1984 Montreal performance, newly available on both CD and DVD.
